Wilson Hurley (1924–2008) was a celebrated American landscape painter best known for his sweeping depictions of the western sky and land. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hurley showed artistic talent early in life, encouraged by his mother and spending time with noted New Mexico artists as a teenager.

He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1945 and served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps and Air Force. After military service, Hurley earned a law degree from George Washington University and practiced law in Albuquerque for over a decade, all while continuing to paint.

At age 40, Hurley left his legal career to pursue art full-time. Over the next four decades, he became known for dramatic panoramas of western landscapes, where vast skies and luminous light play central roles. His works have been acquired by major institutions including the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, and he completed monumental series such as Windows to the West.

Hurley received numerous honors, including the Prix de West Award and induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, and is regarded as one of the premier landscape artists of the 20th century. He lived and worked in New Mexico until his death in 2008
