Tim Burton - The Black Cauldron Early Castle Guard Character Concept Drawing Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1985).

Sale price$2,650.00

The evil Horned King has many minions to do his bidding, but only a select few castle guards. This incredible lot includes a pair of early character concept drawings for these menacing guards by notable director and animator Tim Burton during the first feature film assignment of his Disney apprenticeship. The ink and mixed media concepts are full figure and depict something a little more creature than man with a brown tunic, a long mouth, and even longer striped legs. They give all the information needed for the character, showing it could be terrifying when it wanted to be but was still a servant of the Horned King. All are in Burton's wonderfully whimsical style with amazing expressions and poses and are each large on the page. The characters measure about 8.25'' x 7.75'' and 13.25'' x 6.75'' on 12'' x 10.25'' and 13.5'' x 9'' paper. Very Good condition with minor edge and handling wear, pinholes from studio use, and faint smudging at the edge.
